I had a room on the top floor with a fantastic view of the wooded hills around. The room was large, light, airy and and clean. It's 7 years old, but very clean and rooms look new. The manager was great and can fix anything for you - sightseeing, transport etc. :) Great tasting meals and attentive service. Great views from the dining area. Wonderful stay - would definately stay here again.
No AC, TV or minibar, but what do you expect for the money? I paid $50 a night including taxes and breakfast and was happy with that. The sheets were tired and the bed a bit hard, plus the walls don't quite reach the ceiling, so I could hear loud snoring at night and noises from the room(s) next door. The location, whilst it had great views, was a long walk from town [steeply uphill on the way back], so paid for a tuk tuk each time I came to & from hotel.
Their hospitalities were quite good. The manager was very skillful in arranging the things and directing the staffs. On the day of our departure, we made a day trip to Sigiriya. The driver from the hotel was reliable (in his driving manner) and he did not push us to do anything on the way even we were behind the schedule. So we enjoyed the trip a lot. After the trip, Hotel offered us a special room (because we already checked out) for taking shower and preparing our luggage. And we were delivered at the airport just in time.
Elevator was not available to get to upper floors.
We enjoyed the great view across valley and mountains and the special hospitality including the personal concern of the owner, Mr Kanchana, for the well-being of his guests. He also arranged a great 5 day tour through the mountains (Nuwara Eiliy and Ella), to the Yala National Park and on the the beaches of Dickwella for us, a no worries, all-inclusive trip at a nice price and a priceless, careful driver cum tour guide. We also enjoyed a dip in the hotel's pool after a long day, a very refreshing and revitalizing experience. When our 4 days at the hotel came to an end, our children would have liked to stay on for a few days.
It is very nice hotel.fully wealth what you paid.and they organize tours for good service and the value for the money.
If you are on a budget trip to Kandy I will strongly recommend you to stay in this hotel. We reserved the deluxe room on the top floor and believe you me, the view from the room was fantastic. Besides that the most amazing thing about this hotel is the owner of the hotel, Mr. Kanchana Ranasingha. He is an interesting personality whom one could find moving around every where, interacting with the guests and trying to solve their problems and give every possible comfort to them. He actually called us in Pakistan when we got the room reserved in his hotel. He gave us his personal laptop to check e-mail.
1) The hotel is situation quite at a distance from the city center. 2) There is no lift in the hotel so one needs to climb the stairs. 3) The bed was so small that it was almost impossible for two adults to sleep with a three years old child. However, Mr. Kanchana gave us a complimentary mattress and made things easier for us.
Warm staff members. Decent food. Nice location amidst hills. Good value for the money.
Very friendly staff, location and food
Nothing at all
A very bad experience with almost every thing in this hotel. Far away from the city centre, not clean, bad toilets with bad smell, I strongly do not advice any to go there.the manger is a big layer. I thing not good idea to choose such a named hotel.
Beautiful view, spacious and airy rooms, definitely value for money and they let me check in early which helped a lot since I arrived on the red- eye and I needed to relax before exploring the beautiful Kandy
Getting charged for my driver's meals was a bit unexpected........but I'll let it slide because of the great price and location of Kandy View
The free pick up and also the view from the hill is superb
We booked air con room but the owner gave us a non air-con room instead. If not we had met some tourists who stayed in the same hotel telling us the difference, we might not notice it. Not very trustworthy. After we complained, the owner did give us a reduction of us$3.
The service was excellent and the on-site restuarant was excellent value for money - lovely food. Rooms were adequate.
Overall impression has been good. Communication with the hotel is excellant. The staff can be trained better. The decison making depended on the senoir management very little delegation. Other than the reception staff others are very attentive. Mr Ranasinghe made our stay very comfortable.
Situation overlooking the town.
I arrived late in Kandy, wanted a good night sleep more than anything. Though I haven't been this hotel before It was easy to locate. It was very close to city centre. Though it was not luxery type I find it a good hotel that gives you value for money.
Though the hotel web site says all rooms has ac, Sat. Tv I didn't get any even though my Room Category was deluxe. When I inquire whether I was actualy given a deluxe not mistakenly a standard the person cassualy said third floor is duluxe. I didn't make any fuss as those were not the what I looked for when I choose this hotel. But I hope in future they will give what they say.
The room size and cleanliness were good, the view from the room was really beautiful. Breakfast was ok
They charged me 15$ extra for an extra mattress, tv didnt work in the room, no amenities in the toilet, towels were very dirty and old, bedsheets were not very clean and no elevator in the hotel.
We had a room on the top floor it overlooked the tree tops of the valley and we had a birds eye view of a colony of monkeys from dawnThe staff were extremely helpful the breakfast was good for value it was unbeatably. The management can arrange anything from tickets to cultural shows ,airport transfers to extended tours of the island - a real gem
